No Fire Zone - the final weeks of the Sri Lankan civil war


We will be screening the film "No Fire Zone" on Tues Oct. 28, 7.30-9.15 pm at the Mornington Shire Council chamber in Mornington. Refreshments served, gold coin donation.

No Fire Zone is a documentary on the final weeks of the Sri Lankan Civil War, told through the personal stories of a small group of characters, covering the period of history from Sep 2008 until the end of the war in Sep 2009.

 This documentary was screened at the 22nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, in 2013.

The film’s Director, Callum Macrae, is an award-winning film maker, writer and journalist. Several of his documentaries feature war crimes. Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields has won the Current Affairs – International category of the Royal Television Society’s Television Journalism Awards 2010/2011, won two One World media Award and earned a BAFTA TV Award nomination. See the Attachment for more details.

Trevor Grant will introduce the film, and talk about his recent book "Sri Lanka's Secrets", which will be on sale. Kevin Bain reports that he has seen the film and heard Trevor's talk and it is compelling.
